[35] Discord
2020, May 23rd
When I scroll on online football Facebook groups, I often see Discord related posts. I haven’t deepened yet but I am getting curious. I told A* I might get a look.
I am going to start exploring Discord. There are a lot of teams there.
So I checked, but the interface is quite difficult to understand. There are colors everywhere, channels everywhere, permissions, roles, links to other servers. It is a little bit overwhelming.
A few days later, I received a message from the captain of a team that participates a lot in our tournaments. We often talk, and one day, I had asked him if he had any suggestion for me to improve the tournament. He sent me this.
- Hey mate. Do you remember when you aksed me what could make your tournament better ?
- Yes ?
- You know I told you that my club is registered in a few competions. And when I participate in your tournament, everything is great but the problem is the overall level and the number of players in other teams. For competititions, everybody uses Discord. You should make yours and organize your tournaments there. Your tournament is perfect, the website is perfect. With a minimum number of players required, you could make a name in Discord thanks to the reliability of your tournament and a high level.
- Thank you for your feedbacks man, it helps me a lot. It’s true that I don’t really know Discord. How does it work ?
- Well, in a nutshell, Discord is an app where you can create a server for tournaments, recrutment, friendly games… A huge part of the community is there, with a better level than on Facebook groups. There are also servers managed by club owners themselves. In every Discord server, there is a special place where you can promote your tournament or your league.
- Thank you for explaining me this !
Ok, I think we are ready for the next step, Discord.
- I am looking for a tournament tonight !
- If we reach 16 teams, we’ll organize a tournament
- Huge international tournament, we are looking for 10 French teams […]
