[44] Anonymous collaborations

2020, June 15th

We have a new collaboration !

C* often participates in our tournaments with his team. One day, he decided to create his own, the Info Foot Cup. He made 2 or 3 editions. During the last one, he had to deal with toxic behaviors. He got insulted by a team captain after one of his decisions. C* told me he won’t participate in my tournaments if that team is registered. I understand that.

I offered him to collaborate for the next editions of the Info Foot Cup. The same way as the Family Cup. I think we would be stronger together. He is a great organizer and he makes great designs !

He directly approved.

What a great news !

Yesterday, I talked about toxicity in virtual football. I think it’s also important to talk about collaboration. And there is something quite special in the type of collaborations in this ecosystem. Anonymity. In a word, you don’t know who you are really talking to, you don’t know who you are really dealing with. People use a pseudo, I use a pseudo. And when you collaborate, it’s just an agreement like the conversation I had with B* for the Family Cup or C* for the Info Foot Cup. And that’s it.

It looks scary. But it is really interesting. Because in this context of anonymity, everyone starts at the same level. Whatever your age, your sexe, your skin color, your social background. In the beggining, you are nobody. And if you want to become someone, you have to prove your worth.

Because we proved our worth during the past two months, B* and C* trust us enough tu use our website. Conversely, B* and C* proved their worth in being fair play and behaving well during our tournaments. So we give them our trust, they can organize via The IFC.

It’s a dangerous game. If the website doesn’t work, or if we shut everything down in the middle of their tournament, their reputation will be damaged. In particular for the Family Cup, a tournament promoting an e-sport structure. In the same time, if they are out of control while using the IFC and take nonsense decisions, our reputation as the partner website will be endangered.

It’s a risky balance. If we win, we win together. If we lose, we lose together. But we need each other to develop our own projects, so let’s collaborate.
